Wrexham City Centre
A city centre that means something different to everyone - but essentially our heartbeat centres on the unique core of independent high street traders, markets, heritage and events that make Wrexham what it is.

We were granted City status as part of the Queen Elizabeth II's platinum jubilee celebrations in 2022, shortly after coming in as runner-up in the UK City of Culture 2025 competition - a testament to our passionate community, creative spirit and visitor offering.
Our monthly street festivals (started as a community venture by volunteers in 2015) draw families into town and our growing art community attracts national displays.
Add into the mix a strong visitor offer such as Wrexham Museum and places such as the fantastic new Xplore! Science Discovery Centre, Wrexham Football Club at the Racecourse Ground) and St Giles Parish Church (whose Tower is one of the Seven Wonders of Wales and the resting place of Elihu Yale) - then you'll start to see why Wrexham attracts so many tourists.

Food is important to us here in town and we have everything from quirky tearooms and coffee shops (To^st on Charles Street, Bank Street Coffee & Lot 11), great places for lunch (The Bank Wine & Tapas Bar & Levant) and brilliant restaurants such as the Lemon Tree, Ial on Chester St, the Carniboar (opened July 2022) and the Fat Boar on Yorke Street!

We have two indoor markets, each with their own lovable characteristics and a Monday outdoor market too. Add to this Ty Pawb - a £4.5m market, gallery and theatre which has also just been shortlisted as UK Museum of the Year 2022!
