Science Festival returns to the streets of Wrexham!

Huge news for summer 2021 in Wrexham!

We are delighted to announce that Xplore! has joined forces with our neighbours, Ty Paŵb to bring the DARGANFOD//DISCOVER Science Festival back to the streets of Wrexham once again.

The festival was last held in Wrexham in 2018 and featured robots, star gazing and talks on evolutionary psychology, artificial intelligence and the philosophy of the mind!

This year's event promises to be just as wide and varied. The theme will be a celebration of STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Maths) and will include interactive workshops, presentations, talks and activities for the whole family.

The festival will run over the weekend of the 21st and 22nd August 2021.

The entire festival has been planned so that should the Covid-19 pandemic still necessitate social restrictions then the festival activities will still be able to go ahead digitally.

Xplore! Science Discovery Centre Darganfod Co-ordinator Clair Griffiths said “This is a fantastic opportunity for the local Wrexham community to come together and celebrate the amazing diversity you find in STEAM. As well as STEAM, Xplore! and Tŷ Pawb hope to highlight the communities, businesses and people that make up Wrexham.

"The festival will lay the platform for DARGANFOD//DISCOVER to become a staple of the Wrexham town centre events calendar. We can’t wait for local people to be able to come along and get involved, be that either in person or digitally.”

Tŷ Pawb’s Creative Director, Jo Marsh, said: “We are very excited to be working with Xplore! on the return of the science festival and I hope this will be the first of many exciting town centre partnership events. DARGANFOD//DISOCVER will have something to entertain all ages and we are looking forward to seeing everyone coming together this summer, either in person or digitally, to enjoy, discover and be inspired.”

More details about the festival, including ticket information will be released soon and there will also be a range of opportunities to get involved with the festival that are completely free.
