To celebrate the launch of the all Wales “Croeso 25” themed year in January, the This is Wrexham Tourism Partnership are bringing back their popular food challenge to support hospitality businesses around the County Borough.

SUPPORTING HOSPITALITY
With the post-Christmas period traditionally being quieter, the competition will launch on Monday 13th January and be open to any businesses within the This is Wrexham Tourism Partnership.
A three-week campaign will then begin, which asks venues to present a dish, made totally of Welsh ingredients that takes inspiration from classic dishes and flavours of the USA or Canada. The dish will be available as a special on each day of trading – with mystery shoppers judging the quality of the dish and use of local ingredients.
In tandem, the competition window will also see each venue’s dish heavily promoted, with a free photoshoot, social media and influencer visits – before the highest scoring three venues battle for the ‘Wrexham Croeso 25” title!
For non-food businesses, there will be a separate competition to find the winning cocktail that has flavours of Nth America woven into it.
The winning dish (and drink) will then be served at the 2025 Wrexham Hospitality Awards next Spring, along with other promotional opportunities throughout the year.

ONE OF A NUMBER OF INITIATIVES
Our team and members at This is Wrexham are celebrating a Year of Croeso for visitors with a warm Welsh welcome. The campaign based on market insights and feedback, highlights Welsh culture, language, and attractions. It aims to share the unique Welsh experience and ‘hwyl’ (joy) with the world – with food & drink being the first theme.
Later in 2025, Wrexham will celebrate its ever-growing tourism industry with a special awards night, along with preparing for the National Eistedfodd in Isycoed next August amongst other things.
