Award-winning local brewer Richard Lever has this week opened the Magic Dragon Tap house on Charles Street in town.
Richard’s brewery is based at the nearby Plassey Holiday Park in Eyton, where his award winning Eyton Gold is produced alongside other brews including Ice Dragon and Eyton Bitter – plus Richard’s Pontcysyllte Ale which was bottled earlier this year to celebrate the 10-year anniversary of the Pontcysyllte Aqueduct & Canal World Heritage Site.
Having formerly run a pub in Malpas, Richard has been working with the Business & Investment team to identify suitable premises in the town centre as he had a real desire to get back onto the frontline, working with customers alongside still running the Eyton brewery.
The tap house, in the former Elephant & Castle pub opposite St Georges Crescent will be open 7-days a week from midday and features a range of Magic Dragon real ales, alongside Wrexham Lager Export, Salopian Brewery ales and Welsh gins and wine.
Destination Manager for Wrexham County Borough Council, Joe Bickerton added;

Richard is committed to a quality product and was an amazing supporter of our 10-year World Heritage Site celebrations by creating 1,000 bottles of Pontcysyllte ale. Ultimately, he understands that the area is an evolving tourism destination and how much good quality food & drink plays in attracting new visitors – so by opening a new tap house, it provides a great platform to showcase these ales and offers more reason to visit town too.
