Coleg Cambria Junior Chefs Develop Special Dish to Celebrate Nth American Links!

A team of catering learners at Coleg Cambria in the city centre have designed a special one-off dish celebrating Wrexham's links with North America!

Running alongside the current North Wales vs North America food challenge which see's a number of Wrexham's commercial cafes & restaurants serving-up a competition dish until 2nd February, the learners at the college have arranged three student takeover days at Iâl restaurant to serve up their dish.

The learner chefs have created a Braised Brisket dish with Dylan's BBQ and Penderyn sauce, served with

Snowdonia Black Bomber Macaroni cheese Bon Bon and corn on the cob in a BBQ Maple Madness Chilli Sauce.

Following the theme of the challenge, the learners have sourced as much local produce from North Wales as possible - but aren't taking part in the challenge as their takeover days are only limited each month.

However, if this dish, priced at just £9.50, sounds appealing to you - it will be served between Monday 27th and Wednesday 29th January from 12pm - 3pm at Iâl Restaurant, Chester Road Wrexham. Booking is advisable.

Judith Hudson, catering & hospitality assessor at the College said; "This has been a fantastic opportunity for our learners to challenge themselves and tie-in with the wider competition this month. Our student takeover days were extremely popular in 2024 and we hope that they continue to be well supported this year. Our learners here are the future stars of Wrexham's hospitality and culinary scene and there's plenty of talent on display right now and we are just pleased that we have a superb facility to help them showcase their talents!"

Bookings for the special student takeover dates can be made via the Iâl restaurant website by clicking here.
