2017 PIE CHALLENGE FINALISTS!
The Alyn Rossett, the Mulberry Inn and Bellis Brothers to compete in cook-off!
Three local Wrexham based restaurants will compete for the ultimate accolade of the 2017 Year of Legends Pie champion this coming Friday!

Following 4-weeks of fierce competition between 16 North East Wales eateries, each of whom had crafted their own interpretation of a 'legendary' pie - mystery shoppers voted that the Alyn Rossett, the Mulberry Inn (Llwymawr) and Bellis Brothers Holt were worthy finalists!

After receiving two mystery shops, Allan Leck General Manager at the Mulberry Inn said; "May this be the beginnings of yet another legend! I think we've created a magnificent dish worthy of noblemen in 1165 and the ingredients that our chef uses will always be a winning feast in this beautiful Welsh valley."

The three pies which will be competing in next Friday's cook-off are;

The Mulberry Inn, Llwynmawr – Short Pastry Pie crust filled with slowed cooked lamb simmered in Mead with apricots

The Alyn, Rossett - Turkey, Welsh cured bacon pie with Cabbage, bacon & potato hash with roasted carrots

Bellis Brothers Garden Centre and Restaurant, Holt - 'Strawberry Dodger's Pork Pie with a Welsh mead and Caramelised onion chutney' made with local pork, homegrown onions and a Welsh mead

The three finalists will now go forward to try and impress a panel of regional food judges at Rendezvous Restaurant - Coleg Cambria next Friday, 24th February at 1.00pm. Head judge will be local pie maker and acclaimed chef, Robert Didier from Wrexham based Orchard Pigs (creator of the famous Tractor Wheel Pie!).
The event is open to all local tourism businesses and cafes / restaurants - but places are limited and must be booked via emailing tourism@wrexham.gov.uk

The winning pie will then be available throughout the forthcoming St David's Day weekend in Wrexham on 3-5th March!
